The Holyoke Fire Department received an emergency call at 8:18 a.m. on Friday, June 11 after a sixth-grader alerted his mother to a fire at a two-family home on Allyn Street.
Crews were able to knock down and extinguish the fire, which caused extensive damage to the home. Four adults were displaced by the blaze, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
The initial investigation report states that the fire was started by the improper disposal of smoking materials on the porch.
